2 BIG events today.

I put Ashlyn in a pampers pull up today so we could go to Walmart and get paint to do Carter's room. Mike was on call today and my mom and I decided to paint the room. The room was already a cream color so I just wanted to paint a dark brown on bottom and eventually put up a chair rail. I forgot painters tape at Walmart so we just used masking tape. We started after lunch when Ashlyn took a nap and of course we were still painting when she woke up. We took a break for dinner and I put color on my mom's hair, so by the time we got back in the room it was getting dark. I will have to look it over tomorrow to see if we missed any spots and take off the tape then. I really like the color and I can't wait to get the chair rail up. Another exciting thing that happened was Ashlyn peed and pooped in the potty!!! I told my parents that they are good luck charms so they can't go home. Hopefully this is a break through but we will just have to see.

This is when Ashlyn finally pooped on the potty!

My parents came to visit.

This weekend my parents came to visit. It wasn't planned but with all the ice and snow they didn't have school. We had pizza from Ordinaries and just hung out. Ashlyn made dinner for her and mamaw and made sure to say the prayer before eating. How cute! Great news for the evening, Ashlyn peed in the potty for the first time since we started last Sunday. Yea!! We have been going to the potty every hour, singing E.I.E.I.O, doing nosey's, patty cake and bribing with ice cream. She is still really scared and cries weather she sits on the potty, has an accident or if she even pees in the potty. I can't win! We also celebrated Valentine's Day with them this evening.

Ashlyn peed on the potty so we gave her a bowl of ice cream to celebrate.

I love this picture of my mom and Ashlyn!

New Blog New Look!

Today my blog actually looks like a great blog! A special thank you to Sara O'Barr. It just took us like 3 hours to do it but I love it and I learned so much!!

Potty training- lots of tries and accidents. Ashlyn asked,"WHY?" when Mike told her she needed to try to go on the potty. Oh no! I hope this isn't the beginning of that word.
Ashlyn also has a new tooth coming in on bottom.

12 inches of snow!

It started snowing yesterday around 12 pm and hasn't stopped until around 11 am this morning. We are officially homebound today. It has really been a fun day. We played with playdough for the first time, played out in the snow and made snow slushies. When Mike got home we even went sledding down the driveway! Ashlyn's favorite part was eating snow. She loves eating crushed ice anyways so I figured she would really like the idea of eating snow and she did.

Prayer time

Ashlyn woke up today saying, "kitty cats". I asked her if she had been dreaming of them and she said, "yes". Then she got out of bed and went to her closet. I finally figured out that she wanted her kitty cat slippers to put on. :)
We went to the grocery store after the gym so Ashlyn was ready to eat lunch when we got home. I sat Ashlyn's lunch on the table and I started unloading the gorceries. I heard her mumbling and saying papa...dada....mamaw...every so often and then I heard her say, "Amen"! She said her 1st prayer without me even siting there starting it. It was a great feeling and just made me smile.

Potty Training

Now that we have accomplished the big girl bed, we have started working with Ashlyn on potty training again. I decided to stop just before the holidays because things were not going well so we are trying it again. Right now Ashlyn just cries if we put her on the potty and cries if she has an accident. I'll keep you posted on how things go.

20 Week OB appointment

I went for my 20-week OB appointment today, but I'm actually 21 weeks. Mike wasn't off anytime last week, so we decided to move my appointment to today so he could come with me. The ultrasound looked good. Carter didn't seem to be real active, so it took awhile to get all the measurements. He just wanted to sleep! They told me that he already weighs 1 pound. I saw another doctor today, Dr. Flora, because my usual doctor is on vacation.

The new addition to the Shoemaker family

We took food to Tim and Amy today and got to see the new baby, Myles Dean. He is so little, dark complected and has a ton of hair. The family is doing great and we had a nice visit. Ashlyn wanted to be right were the baby was and usually as close as possible. She loves babies!!

Ashlyn's new big girl room

Yesterday, we got the rest of Ashlyn's furniture for her room. Today, we finished putting it together. I love Target!! We ended up getting most of her room from Target on sale. Mike and I started putting the pieces together yesterday and finished it today. It took us 6 hours total to put 3 pieces of furniture together. How crazy is that! We got it done though and I love it! Take a look for yourself. I still have things that I want to change like white shelving but we'll get there.

Bad night.

Ashlyn woke up a lot last night. She was up at 1,2,4,and 5 just crying and screaming for just a short bit. By the time I got to her room, she was quiet so I went back to bed. She was sleeping in and I thought it was because she was up so much last night. Finally, at 9:45 am I went in and checked on her. She wasn't in her bed and she wasn't on the floor!!! I panicked and said "Ashlyn" in a soft voice and then I heard a whimpering voice say "mommy". I checked under the bed and she was under there at the foot of the bed and couldn't get out! I don't have any idea how she got under the bed because I had it blocked with the pillows and comforter. I lifted the bed and got her out. I figured she wouldn't want to go back in for her nap but she did. I wish I had a camera in there to see what was going on last night.

Results of nap time.

Ashlyn had another great night of sleep. She also took a good nap in her bed today. We had to read a night night book and do her prayer bear but it worked! Yea!! After her nap we took dinner over to Brian and Diane's and visited. Diane had surgery today so mamaw and papaw are both laid up. At bedtime, Ashlyn got up after being in bed for a while but Mike put her back in bed and she stayed.

Results of the big girl bed.

Ashlyn slept great in her new bed! It went so much better than I had expected. Thanks for all the prayers. Now, nap time was a different story. She didn't want to take a nap. She came in and out and played in her room for about an hour. Finally, I got her out and we went to Brian and Diane's house to see how his surgery went this morning. I sure hope this doesn't mean no more naps. We'll have to see how it goes tomorrow.

This is how I found Ashlyn this morning. She wouldn't come out of the bed. She just reached for me with her hands up saying ma ma.

Ashlyn's big girl bed.

Today is the day I will need lots of prayer. This is the day we change Ashlyn from her crib to a big girl bed! After church, Brian and Diane came over and helped us rearrange rooms. Brian and Mike started taking down the crib in one room and then taking down the queen bed in the spare bedroom. We stopped for lunch and then back at it again. My head just started spinning because so much was going on at one time. We were putting Ashlyn's new bed up, moving the crib to the spare bedroom, moving the queen bed out of the spare room, and in all of this I was taking down my Christmas decorations and tree!!!!! I must be crazy!! After we got Ashlyn's bed set up I hadn't even thought about bedding. Oh great! So while Ashlyn was napping, Diane and I went to look at Target to see if we could find something. We didn't just find something, we found a bedding set that matched Ashlyn's room perfect. Of course before we left Target we had to go look at the baby bedding sets also. We ended up buying 2 of them and bringing them home to look at them better. What a great shopping day and to make things even better, everything we bought was on sale! Tonight is the night Ashlyn will sleep in her big girl bed. We are going cold turkey and just putting her in it to sleep. I am very nervous because I don't even have a safety rail to put up yet. I ended up just putting lots of pillows and a down comforter on the side of her bed in case she falls out. I hope this all works. I am going to sleep on the couch in the living room just in case she would wonder out. We did her normal bedtime routine and just put her in bed. She had a musical toy that we had on her crib and we moved it over and attached it to the bed for comfort. That night she pushed the musical toy about 5 times before she actually went to sleep. She did go to bed easily and she didn't get out of bed. Hopefully the night will go okay.

Colts playoff game.

Yesterday we decided that we would conquer the 1st of many milestones with Ashlyn. We went out today, found and bought a big girl bed for Ashlyn. She helped us pick it out and everything. We tried to make it a big deal so she would go along with it all. Lets just say she doesn't really like change! I am really excited but also dreading this whole process knowing how she doesn't do well with change. I guess we will find out soon enough. We also had our group of friends over for the Colts playoff game. Unfortunately, it didn't end up the way we would have hoped for. We all had a wonderful time visiting with each other and the kids. We had a surprise visit from Jason and Mariah! It was great to see them and catch up because they live so far away.
